iPod touch giving you random problems? Have you noticed a lag developing in its performance? You probably need to reset it. You next question is probably something along the lines of, “Will I lose everything when I do it?” That was my first question, anyway. The answer is no. This is a basic step equivalent to restarting your computer. A reset should always be your first troubleshooting step for your iPod Touch.

Most people think that simply holding the Sleep/Wake button on the top of their touch until the power off slider appears, then sliding it to shut it down is the same as a reset. It is not. This only puts your iPod Touch into sleep mode. It is a low power consumption state only. All of your settings and background apps are restored upon wake-up. After a while, installing and removing apps; starting and closing apps; and adjusting and readjusting settings will take a toll on your iPod Touch’s memory and performance. Resetting it will alleviate these problems.

To reset your iPod Touch, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons simultaneously until the display goes black and the Apple logo reappears. Once you see the Apple logo, you can release both buttons. It will take a few seconds to a minute for your iPod touch to completely start.

That is it! You have successfully restarted your iPod touch. It is generally a good idea to reset your iPod touch once a week, depending on the level of use. Enjoy!

There will come a time when your wireless devices will not connect to your router, even though the Wi-Fi light is blinking. There will be a time when your router will not connect to your modem. There is an easy process that will solve 75% of all “no internet connection” problems that exist today. It is called the power cycle. There are three steps, pretty simple.

Unplug your device

Wait 20-30 seconds

Plug your device back in

Now, I realize this is a rather simple process, but you would be amazed at the people who do not take the time to do this one little troubleshooting step. If you are ever lose internet connectivity, your best bet is power cycle both your router and your modem, but it must be done in the following order:

Unplug your router

Power cycle your modem

Plug your router back in

You will be surfing the web again in no time.
