Erase your iPhone or iPod Touch

Have an iPod touch or an iPhone you are getting rid of? Send me an email, I will send you my address! Yes, that was a joke, but I’ll take it if you send it! Regardless of where the device goes, you might want to erase it first. If you don’t, whomever you give it to will have all of your data and network info. Not good. The process is simple, but time consuming. Time consuming in the “waiting” capacity. It only takes about 20 seconds to get the process started. Here is how to get it done.

  1. Select “settings” from the home screen.
  2. Tap the “General” button.
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap the “Reset” button.
  4. Tap the “Erase All Content and Settings” button.
  5. Confirm your selection.
NOTE: This will erase EVERYTHING from your iPod/iPhone. It can take up to 4 hours to complete. Ensure you have it plugged into a power source. If the battery fails during the process, it could put the device in permanent paperweight mode!
